World Class Audio, a state-of-the-art recording facility in Anaheim, California is using a Gottomix VC5000 and Gottomix Red Two for production purposes.

Steve Barotsky, World Class Audio Chief Engineer and co-owner spoke about the reasons he purchased Gottomix gear. He also comments on how he uses the VC5000 and the Red Two. "Although I bought the Gottomix VC5000 and the Red Two Tube mic preamps primarily for my pre-production rig. (pre-production is the process of getting a band ready for the actual recordingby rehearsal and by mock recording the entire record). We ended up using many of the pre-production tracks

laid down with the Red Two pre's for the band Reel Big Fish (their new album "Cheer Up!). "In the end

it was the performance not the Red Two pre's that made us re-record a few sections. The preamps sonically have a very open and unrestrained sound to them. With extensive a/b tests with about six other "high end" pres, the Red Two's held their own at a fraction of the cost."

"My primary decision to buy them (the VC5000 and the Red Two) was based on another factor which was my digital mixingboard (tascam dm24) could not use all of its internal mic pres and return 24 tracks of tape at the same time. With the Red Two pre's I have killer mic pre's and have confidence monitoring of all 24 tracks off my board. (confidence monitoring is monitoring the actual tape outs so you can hear if there are any "overs" , glitches or timing issues happening with yoursystem. If you monitor the mic ins of your board with out actually hearing what's hitting your recorder there can be (and WILL BE!) problems at your recorder (hard disc system or any other recording medium) that you are NOT HEARING."

"Wondering where these things were manufactured (I imagined a Swiss alps village) I was delighted to find an American flag flying on the box. My hats off to the designers for coming out with products that really answer the need for fine mic pres with digital outs at an affordable price." World Class Audio is located in Anaheim Ca. 1.5 miles from Disneyland at 1432 E. Kattela Ave, Anaheim Ca 92805. Recent records are Reel Big Fish "Cheer Up!" (mixed and also two songs tracked there). Steve Barotsky, World Class Audio chief Engineer and co-owner is also finishing up recording and mixing for Carl Verheyens new record. (Carl is the guitarist for Super Tramp, Cliff Hugo is the bass player in Super Tramp and the drummer is Stevie Distanislo who is David Crosby's drummer). As well as the great unwashed local acts that come through the studio, corporate clients include Kelloggs rice crispy commercial (with Reel Big Fish), and Dodge Motors. He has also recorded and mixed songs for the movie "Bring it on".
